Grow Bag Gardening: The revolutionary way to grow bountiful vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers in lightweight, eco-friendly fabric pots. by Kevin Espiritu My rating: 5 of 5 stars I did some experimenting with grow bags last season and was very pleased with the results. With the knowledge I learned from this book I am looking to even better results next year. Great ideas for watering and placement. I will be on the lookout for seeds for the varieties of vegetables mentioned. This is a great resource for anyone interested in grow bag gardening. View all my reviews
2020 – The Year in Reading My goal this year was to read 68 books. Total read was actually 94 Every year I join the reading challenge on Goodreads. For the past couple years my goal is to read my age in books. Obviously, the bar is set higher as I get older. Goodreads My Year in Books Below are the books I read this past year that I rated to be 5 stars (in no particular order). Very eclectic list. Couldn't put this book down. Great plot twists and wonderful character development. Family drama, racial tension, young love all make for an outstanding story that is heartbreaking and devastating Interesting read while the Impeachment Trial plays in the background. A truly heart-wrenching, brutally honest memoir about a complicated life. Addiction, depression, pain, abuse, neglect, mental illness, but most of all gratitude.and love were depicted in this engaging story. This is just the perfect book! The truths it tells are the perfect remind...
When Harry Met Minnie: A True Story of Love and Friendship by Martha Teichner My rating: 4 of 5 stars I truly enjoyed this memoir, in fact I read it in an afternoon. Don't be fooled into thinking that this a a dog book. Yes, dogs, particularly bull terriers, are front and center, but so too it is a story of friendship and love. Weekly walks to Union Market lead to great food, familiar faces and friendship. It is so true that our pets can become the means to greet and meet people. They often make the introductions just because of the fact they draw the attention away from the human and on to themselves. This is indeed how Piggy, then Moose and Minnie helped to introduce Martha Teichner to Stephen and then Carol, Harry's owner. I enjoyed learning about Martha Teichner's background, her roots to Michigan as well as South Carolina. This is a wonderful story of friendship between humans and their pets and between human and humans. Wonderful story. View all my reviews
