Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be DeadEveryone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily R. Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am not sure how to rate this one. I found this book about Gilda, a depressed and anxious lesbian, quirky and at the same time relatable. Despite the topics of depression, mental illness, addiction, anxiety, and religion, I truly enjoyed the story.

The Prophets by Robert Jones Jr. My rating: 5 of 5 stars This is a deeply moving story of love, power and betrayal set in the deep south pre-civil war. The atrocities of plantation life juxtaposed with the beauty of the love shared by two young enslaved men was stunning. Powerful writing about life in and around a place called Empty.
