If asked to describe Joan the first thing that comes to mind is Asperger's Syndrome. Combine that with culture differences and family expectations, and you can understand why Joan's life may not look like everyone else's.
I had a hard time warming up to Joan but do believe that she was indeed okay.

Fascinating look at how forgetting is a normal and natural process and not necessarily something to worry about.
